ADFEST 2026 | Creative Production Unit Dots. Produces Opening Animation for the Festival

Our creative production unit, Dots., collaborated with U.S.-based music production companies The Post Haus and Primary Color Music to produce the opening animation for ADFEST 2026, one of Asia’s largest advertising festivals, held in Pattaya, Thailand.

The concept development for the film began by revisiting the festival’s theme, “Human+,” exploring fundamental questions such as “What does it mean to be human?” and “What does the ‘+’ signify?” Led by members of Dots., the concept was shaped by incorporating diverse cultural elements from across Asia.

In terms of production, the team adopted an approach that combines live-action and AI. Authentic human movement and presence were captured in a white cyclorama studio, then expanded through AI-driven processes led by our AI STUDIO. Through an iterative process of experimentation, AI was integrated as part of the creative workflow, resulting in a new form of visual expression.

【Concept】
In the 1950s, shortly after the war, rapid advancements in science and technology accompanied reconstruction, and people looked to the future with hope—imagining a richer life symbolized by visions such as flying cars. At the time, there was a strong human-centered belief that technology would improve people’s lives.

However, as time passed, the negative aspects of science and technology—such as war and environmental pollution—became increasingly apparent. Technology gradually came to be associated not only with hope, but also with anxiety. In recent years, even familiar technologies, such as smartphones, have raised concerns about their impact on human behavior.

Today, technologies including AI are beginning to realize futures once imagined in science fiction, albeit in different forms. At the same time, attention is often drawn to the technologies themselves, and they are frequently discussed with a sense of uncertainty rather than possibility. As a result, the positive human potential that should lie beyond technology has become harder to see.

“Human+” is a concept that reexamines how technology, when centered around people, can expand creativity and enrich our lives. It represents a way of engaging with technology—and with the future—that reflects the optimism we once held.
