An Illustration Exhibition Capturing Adorably Frustrating Everyday Moments with Cats — poshichi “The awful thing my cat did to me” Announced
We are pleased to announce that illustrator poshichi (pronounced po-shichi), known for her work on social media, will hold an illustration exhibition titled “The awful thing my cat did to me,” featuring endearing and gently humorous scenes from everyday life with cats.
The exhibition will run from Saturday, February 14 to Sunday, March 8, 2026, at Galerie GEEK/ART in Shibuya.
The exhibition presents moments from daily life that cat lovers will instantly recognize and smile at:
having a cat suddenly press its paws against your face in rejection,
finding the spot you were about to sit already claimed,
or being inexplicably interrupted while reading a book or newspaper.
You may mutter, “That’s awful…”—yet can’t help smiling.
These are tender, lovable moments shared with cats, carefully captured through illustration.
At first glance, poshichi’s works may resemble traditional Japanese painting in texture and atmosphere, but all pieces are created digitally using a tablet.
Through a nostalgic visual style, the artist surrealistically depicts modern life lived alongside cats.
At the gallery, a total of nine works will be exhibited, including six earlier pieces that received strong responses on social media and three new works.
All pieces are produced as washi giclée prints, emphasizing the distinctive texture and classical feel characteristic of poshichi’s illustrations.
Some works are also equipped with AR features, allowing viewers to experience playful effects—such as hearing a soft “mofu” sound from the artwork—bringing the warmth and presence of the cats vividly to life.
In addition, original merchandise such as postcards, stickers, T-shirts, and keychains will be available for purchase.
All exhibited works will also be available for sale, with prices expected to range from ¥9,000 to ¥15,000.
