Press Release
At the final public event of the Ashikaga Scramble City Studio, a record-breaking 6,150 visitors from across Japan gathered—far surpassing the previous attendance record.
Following the decision to conclude operations of the full-scale scramble-crossing open set “Ashikaga Scramble City Studio” at the end of 2025, which has been jointly operated by several companies within the GEEK community, the fourth and final public event was held on Sunday, November 9. The event welcomed 6,150 visitors, marking the highest attendance ever and significantly exceeding the previous record.
Inside the venue, several booths were set up based on feedback from past visitor surveys, including a Green Screen Photo Booth where guests could experience chroma key shooting, an exhibition of panels showcasing works and artists filmed at the studio, and food trucks offering local Ashikaga specialties.
With deep appreciation for everyone who has supported the studio over the years, the event was designed so that visitors of all ages—from children to adults—could fully enjoy the studio’s unique charm.
Despite unstable weather with occasional rain, many visitors arrived as early as 6 AM, forming long lines even before the venue opened.
Inside, the atmosphere resembled a real scramble crossing, with a wide variety of people coming and going—some taking green-screen photos dressed as their favorite characters, others standing before the panel displays with merchandise in hand, and many smiling as they enjoyed Ashikaga’s famous local foods.
A record-breaking 6,150 guests from all over Japan enjoyed their final moments at the studio in their own way.
Although the studio will cease operations at the end of 2025, GEEK PICTURES will continue to pursue the creation of high-quality visual content by actively incorporating cutting-edge technologies. This includes DRL (Digital Reality Location)—a service used in the event’s Green Screen Photo Booth that recreates real-world locations in 360° CG.
