Planned and Produced by GEEK PICTURES, Teki Cometh, Wins the “Best Japanese Film” Award — 18 Staff Members Take the Stage with the Trophy at the 80th Mainichi Film Awards Ceremony

Teki Cometh, (2025), planned and produced by our producer Yuji Ozawa and produced by GEEK SITE as the production company, has received the “Best Japanese Film” award in the Film Category—the top prize equivalent to Best Picture—at the 80th Mainichi Film Awards.

The award ceremony was held on Tuesday, February 10, at Meguro Persimmon Hall, where Director Daihachi Yoshida and a total of 18 staff members involved in the production took to the stage.
During the ceremony, in keeping with Director Yoshida’s wish to “celebrate this award together with the entire staff,” each of the 18 members introduced themselves on stage while holding the trophy.
At the conclusion, Director Yoshida addressed the audience, saying, “This is the team who made the film. Thank you very much,” and bowed deeply.
The moment was met with warm applause from fellow award recipients and the entire audience, marking a heartfelt and memorable celebration of the film’s achievement.

◾️About the Mainichi Film Awards

The Mainichi Film Awards are one of Japan’s most prestigious and long-established film awards, founded in 1946 and jointly organized by The Mainichi Newspapers Co., Ltd. and Sports Nippon Newspapers Co., Ltd.
In addition to acting and Best Picture honors, the awards recognize outstanding achievements across a wide range of categories—including cinematography, art direction, and sound recording—with the aim of supporting the development and promotion of Japanese cinema.
The winners are selected by a panel of approximately 80 professionals, including leading film critics, journalists, and experts actively working in the field.
Past award-winning films include Shoplifters (2018) directed by Hirokazu Kore-eda, Drive My Car (2021) directed by Ryusuke Hamaguchi, and All the Long Nights (2024) directed by Sho Miyake.
