Group company RED and Sony PCL Launch New Spatial Experience Label “REP”
We are pleased to announce that RED Co., Ltd., a group company of Geek Pictures, has begun a joint venture with Sony PCL Co., Ltd. to launch the spatial experience label “REP.”
“REP” is a spatial experience label created by Sony PCL and RED by fusing their respective strengths—creative expression and cutting-edge technology—to achieve “Re-presence” rather than merely preserving or reproducing the diverse cultural expressions (IP) that Japan has nurtured, such as fine art, manga, anime, and video games.
By overlaying expressive power and cutting-edge technologies—including Sony’s technology portfolio—onto physical spaces, the label constructs Japan’s imagination, design, and worldview as “experiences that can only be had here.”
We will continue to expand this initiative as a model for experiential exhibitions and entertainment events, delivering the appeal of Japanese IP to audiences both in Japan and abroad.
As our first initiative, we are unveiling “Drawin*” (Beta version)—a spatial manga library that brings to life memorable manga scenes in response to visitors’ movements—at the FAN FEST of the “Esports World Cup 2026,” taking place in Paris, France, from Monday, July 6, 2026, to Sunday, August 23, 2026.
* A spatial experience created by “REP,” this interactive manga library brings to life memorable manga scenes. By using touch sensors on the walls to touch, slide, and combine manga panels floating in the space, visitors can experience a variety of visual effects.
Through “REP,” Sony PCL and RED will continue to develop and roll out spatial experience content based on Japan’s diverse cultural expressions—including location-based entertainment (LBE)—both domestically and internationally.
Please see the press release for details.
