Geek Pictures planned and produced “Teki Cometh,” a film to commemorate the opening of the film.

A stage greeting to commemorate the release of “Teki Cometh” a film planned and produced by Geek Pictures, was held at Theatre Shinjuku on Saturday, January 18.
The five main actors Kyozo Nagatsuka, Kumi Takiuchi, Satoshi Matsuo, Takashi Matsuo, and director Daihachi Yoshida took the stage to talk about the appeal of the film, which opened in theaters on the same day.

Based on the novel of the same title by Yasutaka Tsutsui, a giant of Japanese literature, the film depicts the horror, joy, and humor of people living toward the end of their lives, featuring Gisuke Watanabe, a 77-year-old former university professor who is widowed and lives in a Japanese house that has been his grandfather's since before his death.
The film has become one of the most remarkable films in the world, winning three awards at this year's 37th Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF) for the first time in 19 years and being nominated in six categories at the 18th Asian Film Awards (AFA).

Director Yoshida looks back on when he began planning the film and says, “Just as I was entering Corona, I happened to be reading “Teki Cometh” (the original story) when I was contacted by the producer and the project began. At first, I was working on it with the producer and wondered if it could be made into a movie...” I am glad that I was able to present it in front of a large audience. (It still feels like a dream (to win an award or be nominated), and it's so big that I can't even wrap my mind around it. I can't even put my heart into it yet,” he said.
Kyozo Nagatsuka, who plays the lead role in the film, said, “I feel a lot of pressure from the publicity before the film's release, but for me, I feel like I came out right. I feel like I came out right.

The film “Teki Cometh” is now playing at Theatre Shinjuku and other theaters nationwide. Please come to the theater.
