◾️Talk Session Overview

Date: October 21 (Tue), 17:00–18:00
Speakers: Akira Odagiri, Tamotsu Kosano (Assistant Moderator)
Theme: “Before Their Names Fade Away”

Today, Japanese advertising creativity appears to be rapidly losing its sense of expression.
Globally as well, bold ideas and expressions—the kind that once created miracles—are overshadowed by consulting firms and corporate marketing departments.
It is almost as if ideas and expressions are no longer needed.
In the 1960s, Bill Bernbach of DDB famously said, “If advertising is persuasion, I think it is more art than science.”
The human heart moves in mysterious ways, and all art is, in one sense, a pursuit of the question: What does it mean to be human?
Revisiting the ambitions and passions of the commercial creators of the early days—those who devoted their very lives to expression—is, we believe, especially meaningful now.
